Is your View Beautiful?

Do you enjoy a view ?

 Perhaps one from a height?

I certainly do. I love a good view. No wonder fall is my favourite time of the year!

It is at this time I will often go for long drives. May be 2-4 hours away from the Greater Toronto Area.

I love hiking. Especially during fall. May be about 45-60 minutes from my place is Mono Hills. If you have been there you know it looks like a beautiful painting by an artist smitten by the view. If you haven’t been there make it your bucket list item to check out the beauty of Mono at the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park. You will regret if you miss out on the colourful trails and the panoramic, breathtaking view of the escarpment.

Fortunately, I also live in a place with a view; one would enjoy it during any time of the year.  Imagine this: a gorgeous summer day, and a view that goes far as beyond the Credit River, leading to the Mississauga downtown skyline with the famous curvy Marilyn Monroe towers. It doesn’t stop there. It continues to the Toronto downtown Skyline to its right with the view of the iconic CN Tower and the gigantic, gorgeous Lake Ontario to the extreme right.
During fall, it’s a breathtaking view of vibrant mosaic of crimson, orange, and yellow trees. The crimson and yellow fallen leaves sway and often playfully flutter in the fall breeze- with the sunlight painting the sky pink- creating a calming and joyful ambiance.

However, last the last weekend the view wasn’t the same.
It seemed blurry and not so appealing. I soon realized though, it wasn’t the view. It was the window. It was blemished with the fingerprints smudged on the glass. I hadn’t been cleaned in a while I realized. It had been neglected.

Neglect does that, doesn’t it? Neglect results in blemish. Smudges. Deterioration. Over a prolonged time dilapidation and death- eventually.

I will confess I have experienced this in my spiritual life. I often used to neglect an important routine that I know and I must do - but often due to daily grind at home and work , I tend to neglect. My morning bible reading and spending time with God. The neglect often results in small blemished thats smudge my perspective. This then leads to snap judgments, lack of gratitude and a distorted view of the world.
Its much better now. Spending time connecting with God clears my view of the world. Infuses gratitude. Gives me a sense of unnatural peace and confidence even on hardest days.

The neglect wears out the view.

The mindful connection with Christ clears the view. Puts the truth in perspective. Clarifies the view.
How do have you been seeing world around you lately, BTW?

I hope it isn’t smudged or weary.
